With a “Green Factory” vision, the project aims to minimize energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions during both construction and operation. Key objectives include optimizing the use of materials and natural resources, prioritizing sustainable sourcing, enhancing the quality of the working environment for employees, and minimizing environmental footprints throughout the factory’s lifecycle.
LEED Certification Commitment: The Lite-On factory project pursues LEED certification as a tangible commitment to global emission reduction targets. This initiative also serves to differentiate the project as a sustainable landmark compared to conventional industrial facilities.
Energy Performance Results: Following the establishment of both proposed and baseline models, energy simulations were conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the current design. Preliminary results indicate a 35.16% reduction in total energy consumption compared to the ASHRAE baseline.
Key Strategies Proposed by Edeec:
Renewable Energy: Installation of a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system covering 100% of the total roof area of the warehouse and manufacturing workshops.
Water Efficiency: Implementation of automated drip or sprinkler irrigation systems for landscaping to optimize water usage, complemented by a rainwater harvesting tank to supply irrigation needs.
HVAC & Building Envelope Optimization: Calculating and proposing high-efficiency air conditioning solutions combined with optimized glazing parameters and HVAC system integration. This includes evaluating fresh air supply strategies and utilizing high-performance heat recovery units.
Eco-friendly Refrigerants: Utilizing refrigerants with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP), such as R134a, R410a, R32, etc.
Indoor Environmental Quality: Selecting low-emitting materials (paints, coatings, adhesives, wall systems, ceilings, partitions, and furniture) that have zero VOC content or meet Low VOC and Low Emitting certification standards.
